It's no big secret that the Labrador breed is one of the most popular breeds of the canine kingdom. He's like the Rose Quartz of Crystals! Everyone loves him and loving vibes radiate out of him. So, why are we comparing him to the much-less-popular Labradorite? Let me tell you, it has absolutely nothing to do with the name.
Recharges Energy

You're tired, it's 3pm and you've been working all day without coffee. You're crazy tired, almost deliriously so. Start scene:
Someone: Want some cake?
You: Meh.
Someone: Maybe some fresh air will help?
You: Meh.
Someone: How about I give you $20 and you go get a small Starbuck's coffee?
You: Meh
*A dog struts over to you and puts his head on your knee*
You: :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Am I right? A dog just lightens up your day in a way nothing else can. Well, it just so happens that THAT is what Labradorite specializes in.
Labradorite contains a powerful internal energy that you can access to recharge your dwindling energy. Have you ever seen that crazy, black tape that you can just spray on cracks and it seals it up like magic? You've GOT to see it. I'm blown away every time the commercial comes on. Well, Labradorite is that paint but for the cracks within your soul. It stops the leakage of energy.
Update: Here's the link to that black tape commercial. So crazy! YOUTUBE LINK
Psychic
It is said that the beautiful Aurora Borealis that graces our northern skies came from the Labradorite stone when a young warrior struck it with a sword and freed the magical colors into our atmosphere. It's believed the all of the remaining Labradorite is actually the rest of the Aurora Borealis, trapped for eternity. When you hold a stone of Labradorite, you have access to the great power of the Borealis which is used in aiding psychic visions and connections to the spiritual realm.
You know how dogs can sense the weather before it arrives? Or they can immediately feel the energy of someone before having been introduced? Or how they can sense when someone is hurt or sad and they go place their head on that person's knee, just like in the example above when we talked about being tired? Dogs are psychic. Many people believe this about quite a few animals. This same pre-eminent talent can be found through meditation with Labradorite. Because of the abundance of colors reflecting from within the stone, this crystal can be used to activate the throat, third-eye, and crown chakras. With proper meditational practice, some have even claimed to have reached their 8th chakra, the soul chakra, with Labradorite. Personally, I never have, but wouldn't that be a fantastic goal for which to strive?
Beautiful
I have never met a single person who has said, "Ew, that golden lab puppy is just so ugly!" It feels wrong even typing out that sentence. The truth is, Labradors are gorgeous, and that is one of the reasons they make such a popular pet. This is why we originally said the Labrador is like a Rose Quartz; but this family-friendly dog breed is much more complex than our simple pink crystal. A dog is strong, loving, mysterious at times, and always there for you when you need him. Just like the healing stone of Labradorite.
What are your experiences with Labradorite? Feel free to share them with me at stephen@gemsprite.com for a chance to be featured on a future blog post. And if anyone ever meditates using Labradorite with an actual Labrador, PLEASE send us a picture of that to be featured on our instagram! That would be amazing.
